"Measurements of patient’s visual field are a common, basic and widely used test in ophthalmology.
It is used in ophthalmic disorders such as glaucoma and as an indicator for cranial and neurological deficiencies resulting from trauma.
Currently, perimeters are bulky and therefore static. Few devices with limited functionality can be ported to the patient.
Full patient’s cooperation is required since they measure subjective response.
The new device: The new “IVIEW” Perimeter device, which detects eye movement, exploits reflexes
rather than suppressing it. Patient’s spontaneous eye movement toward the given light stimulus is recorded as a positive response instead of focusing on a fixed point in the center of his visual field. It utilizes the Eye-Tracking technique. The patient’s interface is merely a light weight 3D visor (similar to the one used in virtual reality), linked to portable PC with
